Stone Masonry

All types of stone with a workable cement mortar used to bind stones, blocks & bricks together, to fill and seal the irregular gaps.

Dry Stone Walling

Stone walls constructed without any mortar to bind them together, I personally do fill some of the internal parts of the dry stone wall, with mortar to provide strength & stability for years to come, doing this means that it adds the benefits with out being seen externally.

Cement Mortar

This is a workable paste that is hard when it drys and has little flexibility. It was invented in 1794 by Joseph Aspdin.

Lime Mortar

This is a softer mortar, allowing stonework a certain degree of flexibility, to adapt to shifting ground or other changing conditions. It is a breathable, in that it will allow moisture to freely move through and evaporate from the surface.
